Japan was hit on March 11th by an earthquake measuring 8.9 on the Richter Scale. That is 100 times larger than the recent earthquake that hit Christchurch.
The quake triggered a huge Tsunami which then hit Japan's Eastern coast. Luckily lasrge areas were able to be evacuated in time but there is still a large death toll of over 1,400 and 10,000 people still missing.
